Career

Club

He began his career as a footballer in the Icelandic club Tor Akureyri , but he made his professional debut at Wolsingur. After returning to Tor Akureyri in 1997, he spent one season here, after which he moved to the English Stoke City . However, from 1997 to 2001 Sigurdsson never earned a place in the main team. In 2001, he decided to return to Iceland. Having played one season at Tor Akureyri and two at KR Reykjavik , the Icelander switched to the Norwegian Brann . The defender quickly managed to prove himself and earned a place in the first team. Some Tippeligi commentators noted that the playing style of the Icelandic footballer is similar to Roberto Ayala's . Christian was one of the fastest defenders in Brann and played confidently in the air. Thus, Sigurdsson stayed in the Norwegian club for 6 seasons, played 120 matches in the national championship and scored 10 goals. After the end of the contract, he left Brann in the status of a free agent and in January 2010 joined Hönefoss .

Team

Sigurdsson made his Icelandic debut in 2003. On February 9, 2012, he announced the completion of an international career. [2]
