Biography
He graduated from the Kazan Art College named after N. I. Feshin , then the Academy of Arts in Riga , the Leningrad Art Institute named after I. Repin (1957). [one]
Studied with Gulfairus Ismailova in Leningrad and came to Kazakhstan for her [2] . Since 1957 he worked in Almaty . Among the works of Sidorkin in the book graphics, the most famous illustrations are for Kazakh folk tales "Cheerful Tricksters" (1958), "Kazakh Epic" (1959), for which he received a bronze medal at the international book exhibition in Leipzig in 1959.
In 1963, Sidorkin created a large series of easel autolithographs “Kazakh National Games”, in 1964 - a series of “Reading Saken Seifullin ” (a gold medal in Leipzig-1965), in 1971-1979 - a series of autolithographs “Aksakaly” and illustrations for the novel M O. Auezov “ The Way of Abay ” (State Prize of the Kazakh SSR named after Chokan Valikhanov, 1979). [1] . He created illustrations for the novel by M. E. Saltykov-Shchedrin “The History of a City” (1974-1978).
Sidorkin also worked in the field of monumental and decorative art, where his tendencies toward a monumental-generalized form were especially expressed. He performed a large composition of multi-layer colored sgraffito for the lobby of the Tselinniy movie theater in Almaty. [1] [3] .
The works of Evgeny Matveevich Sidorkin are exhibited at the Tretyakov Gallery , the Museum of Fine Arts. Pushkin Museum of Oriental Art (Moscow) , in the Russian Museum ( St. Petersburg ), in the national galleries of Warsaw , Havana , Leipzig , Baghdad , Skople and others [4] .
