It is the administrative center of the Vysochansky village council, which, in addition, includes the village of New Berezovka .

Geographical position

The urban-type village High is located between the town of Pivdennoye and the village of Pokotilovka . At a distance of 3 km the river Rzhavchik flows and 4 km - the river Merefa .

The village is adjacent to the village of New Berezovka and the village of Rzhavets .

Part of the Kharkiv ring road passes through the village, the M-18 ( E 105 ) road, as well as the railway, which has three stopping platforms Scientific , Oktyabrskaya , and Zeleniy Gai in the village . The village is surrounded by forests (oak).

History

  • 1903 - founded as a summer cottage settlement for employees of the Southern Railway.
  • 1938 - assigned the status of urban-type settlement .
  • 1941 , October - occupied by the Wehrmacht .
  • 1943 , August 29 [2] - liberated by the Soviet army.
  • 1964 - the villages of Green Guy, Scientific, New High and the farm Holiday became part of the village of High .

In January 1989, the population was13,246 people [3] , according to the 2001 census - 11415 people , as of January 1, 2013 - 10 546 people [4] .

  • Memorial sign to fellow soldiers who died on the fronts of World War II. 1941-1945
  • Mass grave of Soviet soldiers. 58 soldiers were buried.
  • The house-museum of Gnat Khotkevich (Ukrainian musician, writer, historian, composer, art critic, ethnographer, teacher, theater and public figure, 1877-1938).
