Neisilber (from German Neusilber - “new silver”) is an alloy of copper with 5–35% nickel and 13–45% zinc . Due to the zinc content, the alloy is slightly cheaper than similar in appearance and mechanical properties of cupronickel .

It is characterized by corrosion resistance, increased strength and elasticity during deformation, satisfactory ductility in hot and cold conditions. It has a silver color. Doped with lead for better machining.

For example: ISC 15-20 (Ni - 15%, Zn - 20%, the rest - Cu)

Application

It is used in industry for the manufacture of precision instrument parts, medical instruments, steam and water fittings, rivets for dangerous razors , frets for guitars, as well as for the manufacture of state awards (orders and medals) and jewelry (nickel silver is most often used recently, although “ by inertia "such alloys are usually called cupronickel - it was once widely used). Like nickel silver, nickel silver is similar to silver, but cheaper than nickel silver. It is widely used in the manufacture of filigree and enamel .

Nickel silver cutlery is sure to silver - otherwise the food has a metallic taste .
