Key Characters
Tomoharu Natsume ( Japanese. 夏 目 智 春 Natsume Tomoharu ) is the protagonist of the series. His Asura Mechanism is Kurogane, and Belial's Doll is Misao Minakami. First grade high school student.
In the anime: After Tomoharu was transferred to the first world, he, with the support of his brother Natsume Naotaki, improved Kurogane and helped him save the First World from extinction. At the same time, Tomoharu signed a contract with Takatsuki Kanade and received a familiar Persephone, possessing the appearance of an owl and the magic of fire. Returning to the second world, he confessed his love to Canada, defeated Tokyo Kagayaki and prevented the destruction of the worlds.
In the short story: After falling into the second world, Tomoharu decided to settle for a while in the school, where he met Canada and confessed his love to him, but was refused. After a while, Kitsutaka Aki sheltered both of them in her home. Then, meeting with Ania and Naotaka, he learns that many worlds are destroyed due to the deity created by people - Deus. Only the destruction of Deus can save the endangered worlds, so after returning and defeating Kagayaki Tokyo, Tomoharu and Misao go to another space in order to destroy God from the Machine. Before this, Tomoharu confessed his feelings to Canada for the second time, and this time she accepts them, signs a contract with him and calls on the familiar Persephone (unlike the anime, in the novel it is a salamander, not an owl). Judging from the epilogue, the destruction of the worlds has stopped, but there is no direct answer to the question whether Tomoharu and Misao will ever return.

Misao Minakami ( 水 無神 操 緒 Minakami Misao ) is one of the main characters in the series. Natsume’s childhood friend, after a plane crash, Tomoharu from the first world turned her into a Belial doll and placed her in Kurogane in exchange for the life of Tomoharu from the second world. Despite the fact that Misao is on the verge of death, she is cheerful and often teaches Natsume.
In the anime: In the end, with the help of a divider created by the sisters of Fortune, Misao manages to separate the soul from Kurogane and she again becomes alive. In the anime, Misao from the First World underwent dematerization and sacrificed herself to the new Kurogana to save her world and the second Tomoharu.
In the short story: Misao in the short story remained a ghost and went with Tomoharu to another world to destroy Deus. Despite this, Tomoharu says that the world means even less to him than her liberation, and he will not stop until he brings it back to life. Unlike the anime, Misao from the First World in the short story became a demon who came to the Second World five years earlier than the main events, and pretended to be the older sister of Misao. With her from the First World, she brought a flash card with unique knowledge, for the sake of which Tokiya launched an attack that transferred Tomoharu, Canada and Aniya to the First World. In the end, Misao of the First World, with her power of Denying God, stopped the launch of Deus in the Second World, but it cost her her life.

Together with him and Misao, she joined the Science Club under the supervision of the Third Student Council, owned by the demon defenders.
In the anime: In the Second World, meeting with Tomoharu, she lied to him about the fact that she had lost her magic, however, during the operation to save the First World, she still used it and was on the verge of extinction. She admitted that she wants to always be with Tomoharu and entered into a contract with him, and then was placed in a preservation capsule.
In the short story: Once in the First World, the soul of Canada was placed in the body of its copy from the First World and was unable to use the power of the demon, while its real body was in the lost Belial Sirogane Doll. Since the demons cannot become Belial Dolls, to support the work of Sirogane, Misao gave part of her soul to him. Thus, Canada of the Second World was temporarily saved from dematerization. During the attack of Darua on Uzushio, Canada returned her real body to help Tomoharu, but spent all her strength and died just before the end of dematerization, having concluded a contract with Tomoharu. The familiar familiar Persephone also went with Tomoharu and Misao to another world to fight with Deus. Even a year later, Canada believes that one day they will return.
