Biography
Laurent Bonnard began his professional career at Tours , but after moving to Le Mans in 1998. Gradually, he became one of the main players of the team, and later the captain from 2004 to 2007. After nine seasons at Le Mans, he moved over 500 thousand euros to Olympic Marseille .
Arriving in Canebière in the summer of 2007, he was one of the discoveries of Marseille in the 2007/08 season. He came as understudy Taie Taiwo . Thanks to a good game, he began to play his favorite position and perfectly performed both defensive and offensive functions.
His good game earned him recognition in 2008 and getting into the symbolic team of Trophées UNFP du football, he was also named the best right back of Ligue 1 in the 2007/08 season.
At the end of the 2009/10 season, Didier Deschamps appointed Laurent Bonnard captain in two matches against Lance (1: 0) and Nice (4: 1). A few weeks later, Laurent Bonnard refused to renew his contract with Marseille and became a free agent.
He was preparing to sign a contract with Le Mans, where he spent nine seasons from 1998 and 2007, but during the summer of 2010 Bonnard signed a three-year contract with Monaco .
After flying to Ligue 2 , Monaco offered Bonnard to cut his salary by 50%, he refused this and his contract, valid for another two years, was terminated. On July 18, 2011, he signed a contract with Lille for 4 years.
