Biography
Kuzma Akimovich Gurov was born on October 1 ( 14 ), 1901 in the village of Panevo, Rudinsky volost, Kozelsky district of the Kaluga province (now Gurovo , Ulyanovsk district of the Kaluga region).
In December 1919, he volunteered for the 2nd Irkutsk Cavalry Regiment . He participated in the battles with Kolchak . In 1920 Transbaikalia was sent, in 1922 - in the Primorsky Territory . He was a political officer of the squadron. He was awarded the Order of the Battle Red Banner . In 1936 he graduated from the Military-Political Academy in Leningrad. Since 1940, he headed the Military Pedagogical Institute of the Red Army in Kalinin .
With the outbreak of World War II, he became a divisional commissar ( 29th Army ), then a member of the Military Council of the Stalingrad Front , then a member of the Military Council of the Southern Front . From July 1942 to February 1943, Gurov was a member of the military council of the 62nd Army . In 1942 he received the rank of lieutenant general . Since February 1943 - Member of the Military Council of the Southern Front .
Gurov was distinguished by strong nerves and icy calm.
September 25, 1943 he died in the village of Gusarka, Kuibyshev district of Zaporizhzhya region [1] from blockage of the cardiac artery [2] .
His heart was buried in this village [3] . Later, a granite obelisk was written on which is written

The body was transported to Stalin (now Donetsk ), where it was buried.

Kuzma Akimovich Gurov was awarded the Order of Lenin , 3 Orders of the Red Banner and medals.
Memory
- Monument to Gurov at his grave in Donetsk.
- In honor of Kuzma Akimovich, the village in which he was born was renamed Gurovo (now in the Ulyanovsk district of the Kaluga region ).
- In February 1944, one of Donetsk avenues was named after Gurov.
