In total, 108 candidates ran for election. The elections were held in two rounds. At least 25% of voters had to take part in the first round to recognize the elections as having taken place, while the second round of voting was considered to have taken place at any turnout.
The first round of voting took place on March 4. 18 out of 35 deputies were elected. In the 17 remaining districts, none of the candidates won the required number of votes. Voter turnout on March 4 was 48%, and elections in all 35 constituencies were declared valid.
The second round was held in the remaining 17 constituencies. Voter turnout was 43.2%.
Nugzar Ashuba was elected Chairman of the Abkhazian parliament.
