Club career
At the MLS Super Draft 2001, Johnson was selected in the second round by the Dallas Burn club, and became one of the youngest players to sign up for the league. In January 2005, the Portuguese “ Benfica ” was offering $ 5 million for the player’s transfer, but the league and Johnson himself refused this offer [1] .
On February 14, 2006, the Dallas salary cap problem exchanged Johnson at Kansas City Wizards for two distribution packages [2] . In the off-season of 2006 and 2007, Johnson trained with the club of the English Premier League " Reading " [3] .
In July 2007, speculation increased around Johnson's possible move to the English Premier League. There was information that Derby County was offering $ 5 million per player, but Johnson chose to end the season in Kansas City. On January 23, 2008, Johnson moved to Fulham [4] , signing a contract with the club until the summer of 2011.
Johnson spent the 2008/09 season on loan at Cardiff City Championship Club [5] .
On December 31, 2009, Johnson joined the Aris Greek Super League club on loan for the remainder of the season [6] .
On January 31, 2011, Johnson was leased for the second half of the season to the Preston North End Championship Club.
On December 22, 2011, it was announced that Johnson signed up for the Mexico Puebla Championship Club [7] . However, he never signed an official contract with the club due to a conflict of opinion regarding a player between the technical headquarters and head coach Juan Carlos Osorio [8] .
On February 17, 2012, Johnson was signed by MLS and selected Montreal Impact through a distribution process, but the same day was exchanged at the Seattle Sounders for Mike Fusito and Lamar Nigla [9] .
On December 17, 2013, Johnson was exchanged at DC United for distribution facilities [10] . In March 2015, it was reported that Eddie Johnson could end his career due to heart problems [11] . On November 1, 2015, it was formally announced that Johnson had completed a career in connection with heart disease.
International Career
In 2000-2001, Johnson playing for the youth team of the United States , scored 23 goals in 25 matches.
As part of the U.S. youth team, Johnson participated in the 2003 World Championship among youth teams , where he won the Golden Boot of the tournament's top scorer with four goals scored.
On October 9, 2004, Johnson made his debut for the first US national team in the 2006 World Cup qualification match against the Salvador national team , and in it he scored the first goal scored for the national team.
