Hadlgrimur Helgason [1] ( isl. Hallgrímur Helgason , b. February 18, 1959 ) is a modern Icelandic writer and artist. Born in 1959 in Reykjavik . From 1979 to 1980 he studied at the Icelandic Academy of Arts, and from 1981 to 1982 - at the Academy of Arts of Munich . After that, he began his career as a writer and artist. In 1990, his first novel, Hella , was released. However, the writer became widely known after the release of the novel “101 Reykjavik” ( 101 Reykjavík ), published in 1996 . Four years later, based on this work, an Icelandic film director Balthazar Kormakur made a film of the same name . As an artist, Hallgrimur Helgason also organizes exhibitions of his own works around the world.
