Hveragerdi or Kveraherdi ( Isl. Hveragerði ) is a small town and community in the south of Iceland , located 45 km east of Reykjavik at the county highway . Population: 2,281 ( 2008 ).

The surrounding areas are part of the Hengidl volcano. The town is known for its greenhouses , which are heated by warm volcanic waters.
To the south of Hveraherdi is the port of Torlaukshöbn from which the ferry service to Vestmannaeyjar previously operated.
