Skagfjord ( Isl. Skagafjörður ) is a fjord in the north of Iceland .

Geography
The Skaga Fjord is part of the Greenland Sea and lies between the Peninsula of ( Skagi , also called Skagakheidi, Skagaheiði ) and Trodlaskagi . The length of the fjord is about 40 kilometers [1] . Its width on the coast is up to 46 kilometers .
The Hieradsvetn River flowing from the highlands flows into the Skaga Fjord with two arms. In the water area of the fjord are the islands of Lundey , Draungey and Maulmey .
Population
There are two communities on the banks of the Skaga Fjord: Skagafjordur and .
The largest settlement in the region is the city of Soydaurkrokur (about 2600 inhabitants). The total population of the villages of Hólar, Varmahlíð and Hofsós is about 400 people [1] .
