Mia Wasikowska ( born Mia Wasikowska , [vɑːʃiˈkɒfskə] : pronounced "Vashikovska" [1] ; born October 14, 1989 , Canberra , Australia ) is an Australian actress . She gained wide international fame after playing the role of Alice Kingsley in the film " Alice in Wonderland " (2010) [2] .

For playing the role of Agatha Weiss in the film “ Star Map ” (2014), she was nominated for the highest Canadian film award “ Canadian Screen Awards ”, in the nomination “Best Supporting Actress” in 2015. The actress was also nominated for the Independent Spirit (2010), Gotham (2010, 2014), Empire (2011, 2014), and the United States Film Actors Guild Award (2011).

Biography
Mia Wasikowska was born on October 14, 1989 in Canberra , and grew up there with her older sister and younger brother [2] . Her mother is Marzena Wasikowska , a photographer by profession, has Polish roots [3] , her father is John Reid , also a photographer and teacher [4] [2] . From the age of 8, she studied at the ballet studio and dreamed of performing on the big stage.
Career
At the age of fifteen, Mia Vasikovska received the first invitation to participate in the filming. Then she played a role in the Australian crime drama " Lawlessness on the outskirts ." In 2007, she was offered a role in the Australian dramas “Coset” and “Leather”.
After some time, Mia appeared on the wide screen in the thriller Crocodile (2007), the drama September, 2007, the military thriller Challenge , in the series The Treatment (2008-2009) and in the short film I Love Sarah Jane "(2008). She later played Elinor Smith in the American drama Amelia (2009).
In 2010, the premiere of the fantasy film “ Alice in Wonderland ” was directed by Tim Burton , in which Mie got the role of Alice and brought her great popularity. In 2013, the film " Trails " was released, in which Mia played the famous traveler Robin Davidson [5] .
In 2015, she played the role of Edith Cushing in Guillermo del Toro's “ Crimson Peak ”, and a year later continued the role of Alice in the movie “ Alice Through the Looking Glass ”.
Personal life
From 2013 to 2015, she met with actor Jesse Eisenberg , a partner in the movie " The Double " [6] .
