Vadim Movsesovich Adamyan (born December 2, 1938 , Odessa ) is a Ukrainian theoretical physicist and mathematician , doctor of physical and mathematical sciences , professor and head of the department of theoretical physics of the faculty of physics of Odessa National University. I.I. Mechnikov .

Biography
In 1956 - 1961, Vadim Movsesovich Adamyan studied at Odessa State University , in 1961 he graduated from the University in the Department of Theoretical Physics , defending a thesis, led by Yu.A. Tsvirko. Further, in 1961-1964 he studied at the graduate school of the Odessa Construction Institute , under the guidance of the outstanding mathematician Mark Grigorievich Krein . In 1964 - 1966 he worked as a senior researcher at the Odessa Technological Institute named after Lomonosov.
June 20, 1966 defends his thesis at the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of the Academy of Sciences of the Armenian SSR , specializing in functional analysis and theory of functions . After defense, he taught for some time at the Department of Mathematics at the Odessa Construction Institute . In the period from 1967 - 1975 he headed the laboratory at the Institute of Physics of the OSU .
October 17, 1974 defends his doctoral dissertation at the Institute of Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR , specializing in functional analysis and theory of functions. In 1975, he returned to his native department, where he first received the position of assistant professor , and then in 1977 - professor . In 1978 , Professor Adamyan took over the chair. Vadim Movsesovich not only supported the traditional subjects of the department, but also stimulated the development of new directions, such as plasma physics, solid state physics , and in recent years, the physics of nanostructures (see nanotechnologies ).
Over the course of his half-century scientific career, prof. Adamyan worked at universities in Australia , New Zealand , Germany and Spain ; received several honorary titles and no less than various awards. In 1994 - 1995, he held the honorary title of Soros professor . He is a member of the American Mathematical Society (AMS) , the Society of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics (GAMM), and the Ukrainian Physical Society.
