Physical and chemical properties
Colorless crystals of rhombic syngony (α-modification, exists up to 1157 ° C). At high temperatures, it transforms into the hexagonal β-modification.
Slightly soluble in water (0.0113 grams per 100 ml of water at 0 ° C). Solubility increases in the presence of chlorine ions.
It decomposes at temperatures above 1580 ° C. It melts only at high pressures, at 6MPa the melting temperature is 1606 ° C.
Getting
