Karl Ludwig Harding ( September 29, 1765 - August 31, 1834 ) is a German astronomer who discovered the asteroid Juno .

In 1804 , Johann Hieronymus Schroeter hired Harding as a tutor for his son. In the same year, Harding discovered Juno at the Schröter Observatory . Harding later worked in Göttingen as an assistant to Gauss .
In addition to Juno, Harding discovered three comets and published Atlas novus coelestis , a star catalog with 120,000 stars .
The Harding Crater on the Moon is named after him, as is the 2003 Harding asteroid .
