Air (festival)

The first festival "Northern Invasion" ("Air") was held on June 17 and 18, 2005 at the take-off field of the "Sands" airfield . The organizer was a public figure Maxim Mazurovsky ^[1] , supported by the Karelian television company Nika and the radio station Our Radio - Petrozavodsk, as well as the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Karelia and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Karelia. For organizing the festival in Petrozavodsk, the organizers were awarded with the public award “A city looking to the future” in the nomination “Public Initiative of 2005”.

In 2010, the festival was canceled, as there were problems with coordinating the venue ^{[3] [4]} , despite the fact that preparations for the festival were carried out: tickets were sold, music groups were invited.

After the cancellation of the festival, the organizers planned to hold a concert in support of the festival on Kirov Square, however, according to the current legislation, it is necessary to notify about the upcoming event in two weeks, in connection with this the event was not agreed. An attempt was not made to hold a concert in the Kaleidoscope R&D Center due to the fact that the RCC hall is intended for 230 people, while there were many times more people wishing to attend the event. As a result, on June 19 and 20, 2010, a rock marathon in support of the Air 2010 festival was held on the air of the radio station OUR Radio - Petrozavodsk . Subsequently, the rock marathon was broadcast on the television channels Nika-Plus ( Petrozavodsk ), Nika-Plus - Segezha ( Segezha ) and Nika-Plus - Pudozh ( Pudozh ).

In July 2013, the festival organizing committee announced on the official website the revival of the festival. The dates were announced - September 6-8 - and the place was the Aviaretro suburban base (a pine forest on the picturesque shore of Lake Konchezero in the immediate vicinity of Petrozavodsk, 40 minutes from the city by car). On July 15, the first member was announced - the Russian rock band AliceA.
