The fourth tournament of the Baltic Basketball League took place in 2007/08. The scheme of the draw changed radically, approaching the system tested in the very first championship of the BBL . After the draw in the single league in 2005/06, through the transitional championship of 2006/07, they returned to the system with two divisions. They received the names Elite division ( English Elite division , Latvian. Elites divīzija , lit. Elito divizionas ) and the Challenge Cup ( English Challenge Cup , Latvian. Izaicinājuma kauss , lit. Iššūkio taurė ).

The fourth tournament of the Baltic Basketball League was attended by 21 teams from three countries - 10 from Lithuania, 7 from Latvia, 4 from Estonia. Moreover, if in the 2004/05 season most of the Lithuanian teams played in the first division, and the Latvian and Estonian teams in the second, now everything has become different. Four Lithuanian and Latvian clubs played in the elite division, six Lithuanian and only three Latvian in the second division (Challenge Cup). But Estonia was represented in each of the divisions by only two teams.

Four Cup Final Challenge
The four best teams, following the results of the regular championship of the Challenge Cup, won the first four places in the final of four, which took place in Riga at the Olympic Sports Center. Semifinals were held on February 29, the final and the match for third place - March 1.

Eighth Finals
The two best teams following the results of the final of the four Challenge Cups got the right to play in the eighth playoff finals along with the teams that took places from 3rd to 8th in the Elite Division. Two matches were played at this stage (the first on March 22nd, 25th and 27th, the return matches on March 29th and 30th), on their own and on another court, the point difference was taken into account when determining the winner. Quarter Finals
In the quarter finals, the winners of the matches of the eighth finals revealed the two best teams that had to compete in the final four with thinking the best clubs in the regular season. Two matches were also played at this stage (the first on April 4 and 5, the return on April 11 and 12), on their own and on another court, the difference in points was taken into account when determining the winner. Final Four
The final of four passed from April 25 to 26, 2008 in Šiauliai , although the club from this city for the first time in four years did not make it to this stage. In the semifinals, the Lithuanian grandees confidently dealt with the Latvian upstarts, leaving them to argue for third place. In the final, the current BBL champion Lietuvos Rytas was unable to confirm his status, losing the title to Zalgiris in a stubborn final match.
