Street Position
The street is two roads separated by a wide boulevard. The northern part is located between Chapaevsky Lane and Novopeschanaya Street , the southern is a continuation of the Sandy Lane , crosses Novopeschanaya Street and rests on the 3rd Peschanaya . The numbering of houses begins with the buildings distant with respect to the intersection with Novopeschanaya Street.
History
The street was formed in the late 1940s - early 1950s on the wastelands of the former village of Vsehsvyatsky during the development of the area of Sandy streets [1] . The name received by the nature of the soil by analogy with the old Sandy street . In place of 2nd Sandy Street, there was originally a ravine along which the Khodynka River flowed. In 1951, the riverbed was laid into a pipe [2] , and the street began to be actively built up with Stalin's houses in the 2nd and 3rd stages of the Peschanyi Streets district. In 1954, a square with a large fountain was destroyed on the site of the Khodynka River ravine [2] . Chestnut seedlings for the central alley were brought by the head of the crop production department of the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition Semen Alekseev [3] .
The facades of several houses of the 2nd Sandy Street are lined with seven-clay ceramic blocks. House No. 6 is noteworthy, which is a symmetrical composition of three buildings. The central building, a little further inland from the red line, is faced with ceramic tiles; the side buildings have silicate brick walls [4] .
Since 1965, the street bore the name of Georgiu Deja (1901-1965) in memory of the former communist leader of Romania . In 1994, the historical name was returned.
Turkish writer Nazym Hikmet , Soviet goalkeeper Lev Ivanovich Yashin , sculptor Stepan Erzya , sports journalist Yuri Vanyat [5] , hockey player Evgeny Babich [6] , writer Yuri Trifonov [7] , actress Anastasia Georgievskaya [8] lived on 2nd Peschanaya Street. Colonel General Vladimir Dutov [9] .
In September 2013, the Commission for Road Safety in the Northern District decided to organize one-way traffic on 2nd Peschanaya Street (from Novopeschanaya Street to Chapaevsky Lane) [10] .
In December 2016, there were plans to install a memorial sign in the square on 2nd Peschanaya Street dedicated to the four divisions of the Moscow people's militia of the second wave of formation [11] . On January 16, 2018, the square was named “Square of the Divisions of the Moscow People’s Militia” [12] . It is supposed to erect a monument in the square in 2019 [13] [14] [15] .
