Club history

The club was formed as a result of the merger of two football clubs under the names Deportivo Gallo and Union Deportivo Eibarresa, but was formerly known as Sociedad Deportivo Eibar. Initially, this was an irregular team (up to the 1943/44 season), but in subsequent years it was reorganized into a denser football unit.

Having left for the first time in his life in Tercera , in 1950, Eibar achieved a continuation of the struggle in Segund three years later, where he spent the next five seasons, after which he returned to Tercera, where he spent 25 of 28 years of his football life (Tercera became the fourth division in 1977, after the creation of Segunda B ). In 1988, the club returned to the "silver category".

Eibar was kicked out in the third division, at the end of the 2005/2006 season. But he won this group the next season, where he reached the playoff stage, giving the transition to Segunda. Eibar beat Hospitalet 2-0. And in the final of the playoffs he won 2: 1 in the sum of two matches against Rayo Vallecano , which allowed the club to return to Segunda.

According to the results of the 2013/14 season, “Eibar” for the first time in its history qualified for the Highest Spanish Division (Example) . Exit to Example was marked by the date of May 25, 2014, when Eibar beat Alaves with a score of 1: 0. Eibar finished the season on the first line in the standings.

The first game in its history in the Example “Eibar” was won at home by Real Sociedad with a score of 1-0. In its first season in Example, “Eibar” took 18th place and was supposed to fly to Segunda. However, due to financial problems — the club’s debts and the lack of guarantees for their repayment — the Elche club was automatically downgraded at the end of the season, and Eibar retained its place in Example [2] .
