Composition
The most important legacy of Palomino is not his painting, but his biographical book about Spanish artists. The Museum of Painting and the Optical School itself ( Museo pictórico y escala óptica ), written in 1715–1724 , had three volumes, the first two of which were devoted to the theory and practice of painting, and were not very popular. But the third ( El Parnaso español pintoresco laureado ), became the main written source about episodes of the life of many Spanish masters.
Death
After the death of his wife in 1725 , Palomino became a priest .
He died on August 12, 1726 in Madrid .
