Goals of the Olympiad
The All-Russian Chemical Olympiad for schoolchildren is aimed at identifying and developing creative abilities and interest in scientific activity among students of educational institutions, creating the necessary conditions to support gifted children, promoting scientific knowledge, creating the conditions for realizing the opportunities of the best students and teachers, for fruitful, creative communication. The Olympiad is aimed not at competition, but at creative, fruitful communication, the acquisition of new knowledge, their consolidation, the fundamentalization of knowledge. Communication is the most important educational aspect of the Olympiad.
History of the Olympiad
The first chemical Olympiads for schoolchildren took place in Moscow and Leningrad in the 1938/39 academic year, but their main form was correspondence Olympiads. The founder of chemical olympiads of schoolchildren was an outstanding organic chemist Alexander Petrovich Terentyev . The Great Patriotic War suspended the development of the Olympiads, but already since 1944, at the initiative of the Faculty of Chemistry of Moscow State University, they began to revive. In the same year, the I Moscow City Olympiad was held. In 1960, simultaneously with the Moscow City, the Moscow Regional Olympiad began to be held.
In 1964, the Minister of Education of the RSFSR Mikhail Alekseevich Prokofiev signed an order approving the state system of subject Olympiads for schoolchildren, the All-Russian Chemical Olympiad for schoolchildren in chemistry received official status. In 1965, the first All-Russian Chemistry Olympiad was held in Moscow. The central organizing committee included outstanding scientists: Professor of Moscow State University Alfred Feliksovich Plata and Chairman of the Young Chemist Section of the Central Board of the All-Union Chemical Society named after D.M. Mendeleev Pavel Vasilyevich Kozlov. In 1967, in connection with the organization of the USSR Ministry of Education, a decision was made to hold the All-Union Olympiad in Chemistry. The All-Russian Olympiad was temporarily suspended, and the Methodological Commission of the All-Russian Olympiad was reorganized into the All-Union Methodical Commission.
The first All-Union Chemistry Olympiad was held in Dnepropetrovsk in 1967 . Until 1991, All-Union Olympiads were held in various cities of the USSR . In 1973 - 1976, tasks were divided into mandatory and optional tasks.
The chairmen of the methodological commission of the All-Russian and All-Union Olympiads for schoolchildren were scientists from the chemistry department of Moscow State University: A. F. Plate, E. M. Sokolovskaya, G. V. Lisichkin, V. V. Zagorsky, V. V. Sorokin, A. K. Gladilin. Since 2002, the Central Methodological Commission for Chemistry at the Central Organizing Committee of the All-Russian Olympiad for Schoolchildren has been headed by Dean of the Department of Chemistry of Moscow State University named after M.V. M.V. Lomonosova, Ph.D. O. V. Arkhangelskaya.
Since 1975, in all republics of the USSR, it was mandatory to carry out the republican stage, which thus became another round of selection. As a result, the number of participants in the final stage was reduced almost fourfold (from more than 500 to 150-170 people), which led to an increase in the average level of training for participants in the final stage. Relatively simple tasks and questions were excluded from the texts of the tasks, and the level of complexity of the tasks of the experimental tour was increased. By 1975, the structure of the All-Union Olympiad was formed, which included five stages: I (school) - II (district or city) - III (regional or regional) - IV (republican) - (V final).
In 1992, after the collapse of the USSR, the last All-Union Chemistry Olympiad was held in Samara . Since 1993, it continued to develop in two areas: the All-Russian Olympiad and the International Mendeleev Olympiad for schoolchildren. The All-Russian Olympiad has retained five stages. Until 2002, the fourth stage (zonal stage) took place in four geographical zones of Russia, and since 2002 - in the Federal Districts (federal district stage), and the final stages of the city olympiads of Moscow and St. Petersburg were equal in status to the fourth (federal district) stage . Since 2009, the federal district (former zonal) stage has ceased to be held [1] .
Now the Olympiad is held in 4 stages. The All-Russian Olympiad is regulated by the Procedure approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia.

In order to coordinate the holding of Olympiads and other intellectual competitions aimed at searching, supporting and supporting during the period of formation of talented children and youth, in 2006 the Russian Council of School Olympiads was created. The work of the secondary school is regulated by the procedure for conducting school Olympiads . This Procedure does not apply to the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren.
Stages of the Olympics
According to the Procedure for the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren , the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren in chemistry is held in 4 stages:
- The school stage of the Olympiad is carried out according to the tasks developed by the municipal subject-methodological commissions of the Olympiad, based on the content of educational programs of basic general and secondary general education of an advanced level and corresponding focus (profile), for grades 4-11. The deadline for the school stage of the Olympiad is no later than November 01;
- The municipal stage of the Olympiad is carried out according to the tasks developed by the regional subject-methodological commissions, based on the content of educational programs of basic general and secondary general education of an advanced level and corresponding focus (profile), for grades 7-11. The deadline for the municipal stage of the Olympiad is no later than December 25;
- The regional stage of the Olympiad is carried out according to the tasks developed by the central subject-methodological commissions of the Olympiad, based on the content of educational programs of basic general and secondary general education of an advanced level and corresponding focus (profile), for grades 9-11. The deadline for the regional stage of the Olympiad is no later than February 25;
- The final stage of the Olympiad is carried out according to the tasks developed by the central subject-methodological commissions, based on the content of educational programs of basic general and secondary general education of an advanced level and corresponding focus (profile), for grades 9-11. The deadline for the final stage of the Olympiad is no later than April 30.
Extramural (distance) forms of conducting the stages of the Voshos
The school, municipal and regional stages of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren are sometimes held in several rounds, one of which is in absentia. This tour allows you to attract as many students as possible to participate in the Olympiad and conduct an effective selection of participants for a full-time tour. Most often, a correspondence tour is conducted via the Internet.
Organizational and scientific-methodical work
Coordination of the organization and conduct of the Olympiad is carried out by the Central Organizing Committee of the Olympiad under the leadership of the chairman. Organizational, technical and informational support for the activities of the Central Organizing Committee of the Olympiad is provided by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia. For the scientific and methodological support of the Olympiad, the central subject-methodological commissions (CPMC) of the Olympiad are created. The composition of the CPMC in chemistry is formed at the suggestion of the Central Organizing Committee of the Olympiad from among pedagogical, scientific, scientific and pedagogical workers and approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia. The basic principles of the Central Organizing Committee of the Olympiad, the central subject-methodological commissions of the Olympiad, the jury at all stages of the Olympiad are competence, objectivity, transparency, and compliance with professional ethics.
Assignment Topics
