General Information
Sports career
Sergio's career began with karting in 1998, where he raced until 2001, when he moved to the Portuguese Formula BMW . Later that year, he participated in Formula Toyota / Spanish Formula Super Toyota , as well as in several karting competitions.
In 2002, Hernandez made his debut in the Spanish Formula 3 for the Azteca team, in which he stayed the next year, combining those appearances with participation in some races of the British Formula 3 . Also took part in the World Series Light season.
He stayed in Spanish Formula 3 in 2004 and joined the Campos team. He also spent part of the Nissan World Series season for the Saulnier team. In 2005, he participated in the GP2 series where his partner was Juan Cruz Alvarez , in the same Campos team. He joined the Durango team in 2006 , collaborating with Lucas di Grassi . The results have not improved much.
In 2007, Hernandez joined the Proteam Motorsport WTCC team , becoming a speaker at BMW. He also spent the final of the GP2 season in Valencia for the Trident Racing team , replacing Ricardo Risatti .
Sergio continued to chase Proteam in 2008, winning the trophy of private traders. Several successful races in absolute standings allowed the Spaniard to sign a contract for the future with one of the factory teams BMW. [1] However, it was not possible to justify hopes - only 11th place in the individual standings in the 2009 season (although one victory was won) and Hernandez was released back to Proteam .
Sergio's 2010 season came out a little more stable than the previous one: he again won the trophy of private traders, and in the individual competition, speaking a little less brightly, he again turned 16th.
