Seychelles shama thrush is one of the most endangered bird species in the world. Its population totals about 250 individuals, although in 1970 there were only 16. In 1990 , when birds of this species became 22, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds and Birdlife Seychelles launched a rescue program that still works.
Shama thrushes are insectivorous birds. Berries and fruits are also eaten.
