Symbolization Justification
The flag of Nizhnedevitsky municipal district is based on the coat of arms and the language of symbols and allegories reflect the historical, natural and economic features of the Nizhnedevitsky district.
Nizhnedevitsky municipal district is located in the north-west of the Voronezh region. The center of the region, Nizhnedevitsk , originated as the village of Lower Maiden on the Maiden River at the end of the 17th century . In 1779, the city of Nizhnedevitsk became the center of a vast county , which included the territory of the modern Nizhnedevitsky district, partly Khokholsky , Repyevsky districts of the Voronezh region, as well as Belgorod and Kursk regions.
In 1781, Catherine II approved the city plan, and on September 21 ( October 2 ), 1781 , the Emblem of Nizhnedevitska was approved the highest, the original description of which reads:
“In the upper part of the shield is the arms of Voronezhskiy. In the bottom - rye epic, on which many colossi are called ergot, in the green floor, meaning great abundance of bombs ”.
The systematic settlement of the area takes place in the XVII – XVIII centuries, and almost immediately agriculture becomes the main activity. The flag reflects the specifics of the Nizhnedevitsky region - its agricultural and industrial complex engaged in the production and processing of agricultural products.
The symbolism of the main figure of the flag - the girl (woman) in the azure dress - has many meanings. It allegorically symbolizes the Maiden River, which gave its name to the village of Nizhnyaya Maiden and subsequently to the region itself. The image of a woman is popular with the Slavic peoples as a symbol of agriculture and fertility. The agricultural orientation of the area is also reflected in the golden ears of wheat, indicating one of the main crops produced and generally symbolizing the harvest and wealth.
- Yellow color (gold) is a symbol of wealth, harvest, respect, intelligence, stability.
- White color (silver) - a symbol of peace, understanding, purity.
- Blue color is a symbol of sublime aspirations, thinking, sincerity and virtue. It also symbolizes the river Maiden.
