Repeated winner of Hungarian national tournaments. The Hungarian team includes the champion of the 1st and 2nd chess Olympiads; 2nd place at the 3rd, 7th and 3-5th place at the 5th Olympiads. The best results in international tournaments: Vienna ( 1921 ) - 4-7th; London ( 1922 ; side tournament) - 1st; Portsmouth ( 1923 ) - 2nd (after A. Alekhine ); Paris ( 1924 ; world championship among amateurs) - 4-6th; Gyor (1924) - 4-5th; Kecskemét ( 1927 ) - 5-7th; Budapest ( 1928 , 1929 ) - 5-6th and 4-5th; Szolnok ( 1932 ) - 1st place. Member of the team match Moscow - Budapest ( 1949 ). For about 20 years he collaborated in the Magyar Shackquillag magazine.
