The National Air Force of Angola ( port. Força Aérea Nacional Angolana ) is one of the branches of the army of the Republic of Angola.

The Angola Air Force was created in 1976 , after the country's independence from Portugal , as the People's Air Force / Air and Air Defense ( port of Força Aérea Popular de Angola / Defesa Aérea e Antiaérea (FAPA / DAA) ). In the first one and a half decades of their existence, they received significant support from the USSR and Cuba . The Angolan Air Force took part in a protracted civil war that ended in 2002 . The Angolan Air Force occupies first place in Tropical Africa in the number of combat aircraft, although it is extremely difficult to determine their real combat effectiveness.
History
Organizational structure and combat personnel
The organizational plan of the Angola Air Force includes six aviation regiments: 21st transport helicopters (deployed at Luen’s Air Force), 22nd combat helicopters (Huambo), 23rd transport aircraft (Luanda), 24th training (Menonge), 25th fighter (Kuito), 26th strike aviation (Mosamedish) [1] .
Data on the type and number of planes and helicopters of the Angolan Air Force are given according to Aviation Week & Space Technology for 2009 [2] with adjustments as of 2016 [3] . Additionally, in 2017, 12 Su-30Ks will be delivered.
