Biography
Boris Moiseevich Sichkin was born in Kiev in the family of a Jewish bootleg who died when the boy was 4 years old. The elder brother taught Borya dancing, and, according to his own recollections, he began speaking at the Jewish Bazaar before the criminals gathered there. After escaping from home, he was expelled from school. In 1937-1941 he studied at the Kiev Choreographic School, at the same time danced in the Ukrainian SSR Dance Ensemble .
Since June 15, 1941 as part of the APO KVO . Member of World War II . In 1941-1946 - in the front-line ensemble , fellow soldier of the future folk artists of the Ukrainian SSR Yuri Timoshenko , Efim Berezin , Alexander Segal and choreographer Boris Kamenkovich. For the exemplary performance of the combat missions of the Command at the front of the struggle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown at the same time, he was awarded the medal "For Military Merit" (order on the troops of the Belarusian Front 10/25/1943 No. 18 / n), in 1947-1948 - the ensemble soloist songs and dances of the Soviet Army. In 1973, he was arrested in Tambov on suspicion of embezzlement of state property on a large scale. A year later he was released. The investigation continued for several more years. In the end, Boris Sichkin was finally acquitted.
In 1979 he left for the USA . Member of the editorial board of the New York newspaper in Russian " Russian Bazaar ". In 1994, for the first time after emigration, he came to Russia. He starred in several films.
He spent his last years in a low-income family home in Queens, New York. He died on March 21, 2002 of a heart attack in his apartment in New York . Soon, at the request of his wife, the remains of Boris Sichkin were removed from the grave and cremated , and the urn with the ashes was transported to Moscow and was kept for 6 years with friends of the Sichkin family. Only on April 18, 2008 the ashes were buried. Farewell took place at the Cinema House , and then the urn with ashes was placed in the columbarium of the Vagankovsky cemetery .
