Eugenia Mackiewicz ( Polish: Eugenia Mackiewicz , monastic name is Mary Kaniziya) is a blessed Roman Catholic Church , a nun of the female monastic congregation “ Sisters of the Holy Family from Nazareth ” ( Nazareth ), a martyr . One of eleven Novogrudok martyrs . She was born on 11/27/1903 in the city of Suwalki , Poland , and died on 01/08/1943 in Novogrudok , Belarus .

Biography
In 1933, she joined the women's monastic congregation “Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth” (Nazareth). The novice was held in Albano , Italy , after which she adopted the monastic name of Maria Canizia. As a nun, she was engaged in teaching activities in Kalisz , Poland. In 1938, she was sent to the Nazareth convent in Novogrudok, where she worked as a teacher in a school.
In August 1943, mass repressions against civilians took place in Navahrudak. Evgenia Matskevich, along with other nuns, proposed to the German occupation authorities to replace the arrested civilians. On the night of July 31 to August 1, she was arrested along with other nuns of the monastery and shot early in the morning of August 1 in a forest near Novogrudok.
Praise
On March 5, 2000, he was beheaded by Pope John Paul II .
