“Breakfast on Pluto” ( eng. Breakfast on Pluto ) is a comedy drama by Neil Jordan based on the eponymous novel by Patrick McCabe . The film was nominated for Golden Globe , participated in the non-competition program of the Berlin Film Festival .

Story

Patrick Braden walks through the streets of London and tells his girlfriend's baby the story of his life. This story consists of 36 chapters.

Chapter 1. In which they throw me up. A woman leaves the basket with the baby on the threshold of the church, knocks on the door and escapes. From the words of robins it is clear that this woman is the former housekeeper of the priest Bernard, and she also looks like the movie star Mitzi Gaynor .

Chapter 2. My foster mother's shoes. Patrick tries on women's clothes and paints his lips. He is caught by his foster mother and half-sister.

Chapter 3. My friends. Patrick plays with his friends. One of them, David, scares the townspeople in Dalek costume.

Chapter 4. My mother. Mr. Feely, father of one of Patrick's friends, tells how Eiley Bergin (Patrick's mother) saw in London. When asked about his appearance, Mr. Feely shows Picturegoer magazine With Mitzi Gaynor on the cover.

Chapter 5. My father. Patrick finds a check from the priest Bernard and realizes that he is his father.

Chapter 6. In which I was misunderstood. In the school essay, Patrick describes the story of acquaintance of his parents in an ironic-erotic style.

Chapter 7. Saint Kitten. At school, Patrick is transferred to home economics lessons and sews his first dress.

Chapter 8. Money for dancing. Patrick with his friends goes to the dance, but he is not allowed into the club, then he leaves with the bikers.

Chapter 9. Star Trek Bikers share weed and explain their philosophy.

Chapter 10. Changes. In a school lesson in sex education, Patrick raises the issue of changing sex and after a scandal, runs away from home.

Chapter 11. Mohawks. Patrick travels with the Mohawk band and has a romantic relationship with lead singer Billy Hatchett.

Chapter 12. My career in show business. Patrick starts performing with the band on stage, but it quickly ends due to homophobic mood among the audience.

Chapter 13. Caches. Billy settles Patrick in a trailer in a deserted place. Patrick accidentally learns that the trailer is used to transfer weapons between IRA cells.

Chapter 14. Very, very seriously. Lawrence Fili, one of Patrick's school friends, dies from a terrorist bomb.

Chapter 15. Deep waters. Patrick returns from the funeral to the trailer and takes a weapon from the cache, drowns it in the lake.

Chapter 16. In which I find myself not in my league. IRA militants come for weapons, Patrick miraculously survived.

Chapter 17. Revenge. Patrick leaves for London in search of his mother.

Chapter 18. In which I leave this little city torn apart by strife and cross the vast and raging ocean. In the address bureau, Patrick receives the addresses of women with the surname Bergin.

Chapter 19. On the street where you live? The search has not given any results.

Chapter 20. Tale. At night, Patrick remains on the playground, in the morning he is found and hired as an animator .

Chapter 21. Spirits. Patrick is subjected to attempted rape, but is saved by spraying perfume on the attacker's face.

Chapter 22. In which Kitten gains hope. Patrick meets the illusionist Bertie.

Chapter 23. My career in show business. Part two. Bertie invites Patrick to her show, hypnotizes him and suggests that his mother is in the auditorium. Patrick begins to assist Bertie on his speeches.

Chapter 24. Mysterious ladies. Charlie, Patrick's school friend, finds him under hypnosis and leads him away from the show.

Chapter 25. Revolution. Charlie reports the news of his pregnancy.

Chapter 26. Abortion. Patrick accompanies Charlie for an abortion, but she decides to save the child.

Chapter 27. My tights! They broke. While Patrick is dancing, a terrorist act takes place in the club.

Chapter 28. Kitten Saves the World Patrick is being interrogated as suspected of committing a terrorist act.

Chapter 29. Camera, cute camera. Patrick is finally released.

Chapter 30. Love is a delightful gift. Patrick begins prostitution. Once in the subway it seems to him that he sees his mother.

Chapter 31. Five glorious girls - cooperative. Patrick leaves the streets to striptease. Father Bernard comes in as one of the clients and opens Patrick’s mother’s address.

Chapter 32. On the street where you actually live. Patrick, in the guise of serving as a telephone company, comes to his mother.

Chapter 33. Keep me in my heart. Patrick returns to his hometown to support Charlie before the birth.

Chapter 34. Children, candy. The locals are not happy with the behavior of Patrick.

Chapter 35. Christmas Eve . The church in which priest Bernard lives is set on fire.

Chapter 36. Tears me apart. Charlie and Patrick leave for London. Charlie gives birth.
