History

The Press Committee of the Russian Federation was established on December 22, 1993 as the assignee of the Ministry of Press and Information of the Russian Federation and the Federal Information Center (FIC). At the same time, the Russian Federal Television and Radio Broadcasting Service (FSTR) was also created, which was headed by Mikhail Vesimovich Seslavinsky .

Presidential Decree No. 180 of March 3, 1994 established the location of Roskompechat - Moscow, Strastnoy Boulevard, 5, established the maximum number of headquarters - 439 people, and it was determined that the committee chairman had 4 deputies, including one first. The same decree approved the provision on the committee.

The first chairman of Roskompechat was appointed Mironov Boris Sergeyevich , who two days before the creation of the committee became deputy minister of press and information of the Russian Federation. September 2, 1994 Mironov was dismissed without giving reasons in connection with the criticism launched in the newspapers Izvestia and Moscow News for nationalist speeches [1] .

By order of the government No. 701-r of May 24, 1995, a board of 11 people was formed in Roskompechat.

On August 14, 1996, along with other government committees, the Press Committee of the Russian Federation was renamed the State Press Committee of the Russian Federation (State Printing Committee of Russia).

On July 6, 1999, the State Printing Committee of Russia was merged with the FSTR into the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Press, Broadcasting and Mass Media , headed by Mikhail Lesin .
