Description

Baht sometimes appears in the guise of a gray-bearded old man sitting either in the sky or on a high mountain, determining the fate of each person. His designations are recorded by Grokh in special books or on people's foreheads. In popular beliefs, Bakhta is also called the spirit of happiness, which he sends to a person or an individual family. He appears in the guise of a young man or an old man. Whose Bakht lives, fortune accompanies him, and who Bakht leaves, he is haunted by obsession and bad luck.

Baht often appeared in white clothes in houses, in stables or on pastures where cattle guarded. He leaves the house in which he was insulted. To return or invite Bakht, they perform special ceremonies at the end of the year or at the beginning of the new year: girls sit on poker and jump on them, old women leave the house with staves, knock on the ground and ask Bakht to return to their house with special spells. Sometimes Baht is identified with the spirits of the ancestors.
