History
The temple was built in 1887 [1] and was the main place of worship for a significant part of the Armenian community of Baku until its forced exodus from the city in 1988-1990. during the Karabakh conflict . Arson severely damaged the church in 1990 . A cross was removed from the dome.
In 2002, on the basis of the church located on the balance of the presidential administration, the library of the Office of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan was formed [2] . Azerbaijani Culture Minister Abulfaz Garayev said that he considers the transformation of this church into a library appropriate [2] . In 2004, the church building was reconstructed [1] .
In April 2010, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill and Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II visited the church in Baku to attend the World Summit of Spiritual Leaders [3] . Garegin and the high-ranking Armenian clergy who accompanied him prayed and sang medieval hymns in the church [1] .
The church is still closed.
