Herbert Augustsson

Herbert Agustsson ( Isl. Herbert Hriberschek Ágústsson ; born August 8, 1926 , Austria ) is an Icelandic composer and horn player of Austrian origin.

Biography

Herbert Agustsson studied musical art in Austrian Graz under the direction of composer and conductor Franz Mixa , as well as Arthur Michl . After graduating in 1944, Agustsson plays the first horn in the Graz Symphony Orchestra for seven years.

In 1952, Agustsson moved to Iceland. Over the years, he played the first horn in the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra . In 1976 - 1985 led the music school in Keflavik .

Works

Among Agustsson's compositions are Concerto for French Horn and Orchestra (1963), a number of pieces for French horn accompanied by strings, Symphoniette for winds, percussion and piano (1973), wind quintet (1968). At the same time, he owns works that are not related to the dominance of winds, in particular, the Short Concert (1970), Structure II ( Isl. Formgerð II ) for violin and orchestra (1979), etc.
