Yongin ( cor. 용인시 ? , 龍 仁 市? , Yongin-si) is a city in Gyeonggi-do Province, South Korea, about 40 kilometers south of the country's capital, Seoul . Yongin is one of the country's tourist centers, as there are several major museums and amusement parks.

Content
History
The first mention of residential settlements on the territory of modern Yongin date back to the 5th century . In 475, Mörohyun County was renamed Kusonhyun. Then Yongin was part of the state of Baekje . Later, this territory was conquered by the states of Goguryeo and Silla . In the era of the United Silla, the name was changed to Koso, and during the Koryo dynasty, in 944 , to Yongu. In 1413, Yongu and nearby Choin were united in order to form Yongin. In 1895, Yongin became part of the Gyeonggi-do Province. The status of the city (si) was obtained on March 1, 1996 . [one]
Geography
Located in the center of the country, in the east of the province of Gyeonggi-do. The landscape is mostly mountainous. Several lakes, which are a popular holiday destination for fishing anglers from all over South Korea. [2]

Higher Education
There are about 10 thousand students in the city. Higher education institutions of Yongin:

There are also several branches of Seoul universities:

- Hanguk Foreign Languages University (Yongyin Campus).
- Tanguk University (Yongyin Campus).
In addition, the Suwon International School is located on the border with the city of Suwon .
Culture
Institutions of culture:
- Hoam Art Gallery - Contains about 15 thousand pieces of art created by Korean artists. [four]
- The Gyeonggi-do Museum , one of the largest in Korea, contains a large collection of antiques, many of which are included in Korea’s national treasures .
- Lamp Museum - a large collection of lamps from various countries and eras is on display.
- Sejong Museum of Stone Sculpture - exhibits various examples of stone sculptures by both Korean and foreign masters.
Festivals:
- Tulip Festival - held annually in early April. In addition to the flower exhibition, there are days of culture of European peoples.
- Tano Festival - held annually in May in the national Korean village. The program includes performances by folklore groups, a folk craft fair.
- Rose Festival - held in Everland every summer.
- Yonggu Festival - held since 1986. The aim of the festival is the development and presentation of folk crafts and traditional culture of the local population. Held at the beginning of October each year.
Tourism and Attractions
- The largest everland amusement park in the country. [five]
- Korean National Village - is an open-air museum that gives tourists an idea of the way of life of Koreans in ancient times . [6]
- Carribean Bay Water Park is the largest water park in the country. In addition to water attractions, there are hot springs, saunas and spas. [7]
- Hantek Botanical Garden - covers an area of 500 thousand m². Presented mainly plants typical of the Korean Peninsula .
- Four meter Buddha statue in Mipyonni.
- Fort Choinson ( XIII century ) - was built in the era of the Koryo dynasty to protect against the Mongol invaders.
- Paeknonsa Buddhist Temple, founded in 801 .
