Grigoriev, Victor Petrovich

Member of the Great Patriotic War , was seriously wounded in battles near Staraya Russa . In the postwar years he graduated from the faculty of Russian language and literature of the Moscow City Pedagogical Institute. V.P. Potemkin , student of A.A. Reformed .

In 1955 he defended his thesis “Some Questions in the Theory of Phrasing (Based on the Material of Complex Nouns with the Verb Second Component in Modern Russian)”. Executive editor of the journal " Questions of Linguistics " (1955-1959). From 1958 until the end of his life he worked at the Institute of the Russian Language of the USSR Academy of Sciences .

During the “cleansing” of the institute in 1971, he survived from dissidents and suspected of sympathy for them only as a disabled war . In 1974, S. K. Shaumyan , head of the structural linguistics sector, applied for departure and soon left for the USA.

In 1975, the sector of structural linguistics and linguistic poetics was formed; Grigoryev was appointed head. Later, the sector was transformed into a department of stylistics and the language of fiction.

In the 1990s, Grigoryev invited Academician M. L. Gasparov to the department, and in 2002 transferred the leadership to him. After the death of Gasparov, the department was merged with the department of machine stock and transformed into the department of corpus linguistics and linguistic poetics; Academician V. A. Plungyan became the head.

In 1978 he defended his doctoral dissertation "The Poetics of the Word (based on the material of Russian Soviet poetry)." For the most part of his career, V. P. Grigoriev dealt with this topic, and in 1995 he was awarded the Pushkin Prize for the series of works “Theory and History of Poetic Language” ^[1] .

In recent years, he directed the compilation of the “Dictionary of the Language of Russian Poetry of the 20th Century”.
