Title
In ancient times, on the territory of present Novong there were many reed plantations. Literally translated, “Novongu” means “ district - the source of reeds ”: “but” ( cor.. ? , 蘆? ) - “reeds”, “out” ( cor. 원 ? , 原? ) - “origin” or “source "," Gu "-" district ".
Official sources indicate that the name "Novon" was applied to this territory since the time of the Koryo dynasty, but usually it was not used separately by "Novon", but, for example, " Novon Station ", since at that time one of the territories passed through the territory important roads of the state.
Location on a city map

History
At the beginning of the 20th century, the territory of present Novongu belonged to the Gyeonggi Province (Novonmyeon of Yangju County, cor. 양주군 노원 면).
In 1914, the territory was annexed to Nohaemen of Yangju County, and in 1963 , in accordance with the plan for expanding the borders of Seoul, it was introduced into the Sonbukku district.
In 1973, the Tobongu district stood out from Sonbukku, and on January 1, 1988, President Chung Doo-hwan separated Novongu from Tobong by decree. [3]

Despite the fact that the main object for climbing mountains in Seoul - Mount Bukhansan located in relative proximity to Novongu - is higher than the Suraksan and Puramsan mountains, they make up a certain share of competition for it, since they differ in rather steep slopes and beautiful scenery.
