Ashalčí Oka is the literary pseudonym of the first Udmurt poetess and writer Akilina Grigorievna Vekshina, who became famous in the 20s [1] . Also known as an ophthalmologist, front-line doctor, Honored Doctor of the Udmurt ASSR.

Biography
Akilina Grigorievna was born into a peasant family in the village of Kuzebaevo [2] . She was educated at the Karlygan Votsk School of Teachers - 1914, at the Kazan Department of Workers - 1921 and at the Medical Faculty of Kazan University - 1927 [3] .
The first poems and stories by Ashalchi Oka appeared in 1918 in the pages of the Udmurt newspapers “Vil Xin” and “Gudyri” . In 1928, the first collections of poems “By the Road” (“Syures Duryn”) and “What He Sings about” are published. In 1933 she was subjected to repression : she was accused of having links with nationalists , after which she departed from creative work.
Since 1928 she worked as an oculist .
Member of the Great Patriotic War : in the Red Army from July 20, 1941. The captain of the medical service. For a year and a half she was in charge of the toxic gas-gangrenous infection department, then she was an intern at the Surgical Field Mobile Hospital No. 571 (303rd mobile evacuation center of the 3rd Army of the Belarusian Front). Awarded the medals " For Military Merit " (1944), " For the capture of Berlin " (1945), " For the victory over Germany " (1945).
Comrade Vekshina proved to be a doctor enthusiast of his work. She worked at the most difficult and demanding areas. ... With her tirelessness, self-sacrifice and perseverance in treatment, she saved the lives of many hundreds of wounded. Repeatedly donated her blood to save the life of the wounded. He has many letters of thanks from the wounded.

After demobilization from the army in October 1946, she worked as a doctor at the Alnash district hospital. Awarded the Order " Badge of Honor ". Honored Doctor of the Udmurt ASSR.
Memory
In 1987, the House-Museum of Ashalchi Oka was opened in the village of Alnashi .
In 1994, the Udmurt National Literary Prize named after Ashalchi Oka was established [5] .
