The Communist Party of Montenegro ( Serbohorv. Communist Party Crne Gore ) is a communist movement created in 1948 and subordinated to the Communist Party of Yugoslavia . In 1952, after the Sixth Congress of the CPU, the Communist Party of Montenegro was renamed the Union of Communists of Montenegro ( Serbohorv. Saves communist Crne Gore ).

In the first multi-party elections in Montenegro in December 1990, the party won a landslide victory and received 56.2% of the vote.
In June 1991, the Union of Communists of Montenegro changed its name to the Democratic Party of Socialists of Montenegro .
