History
For the first time, the village of New Game is mentioned in the Landrat census of 1716, among the settlements of hundreds of Tokbulat Rysov Arsk roads of Kazan county [1] . According to the results of the tenth revision in 1859, in the 38 courtyards of the treasury village of Verkhnyaya Iga, the Umyak and Chilchik rivers were inhabited by 320 residents and the rural administration was located [2] . In 1862, permission was granted to build a church. In 1864, construction was completed and on October 18, the church was consecrated in the name of Saints Peter and Paul [3] .
Until 1921, the village was part of the Grakhov volost of the Elabuga district (since 1921 - Mozhginsky ). After the enlargement of the administrative units of 1924, the administration of the Verkhneigrinsky village council was located in the village [4] . By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Ukrainian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic dated May 29, 1939, the church was closed.
As a result of the reform of local self-government in 2004, the Verkhneigrinsky village council was transformed into the Verkhneigrinsky municipality and endowed with the status of a rural settlement [5] .
