History

Formed on 03/07/1942 by transforming the 65th assault aviation regiment by order of the People's Commissar of Defense of the USSR 70 dated 03/07/1942.

As part of the army from 03/08/1942 to 01/13/1945 .

Simultaneously with the transformation, the regiment was re-equipped with IL-2 aircraft.

In March 1942 , he attacked the defensive line, fortifications, airfields in the field of operations of the 32nd Army , and since April 1942 in the zone of operation of the 26th Army .

So, in August 1942 , he flew to attack airfields in Luostari , Tungozero , Tikshaero.

In November 1942 it became part of the 261st assault air division .

Since February 1943, the regiment became part of the 258th mixed aviation division. He continued his actions in the Kandalaksha and Murmansk directions. On August 24, the division was renamed the 1st Guards Combined Aviation Division . Separate units of the regiment were even attracted to a special group to repel raids by enemy aircraft on Leningrad [1] .

As part of the division, he took part in operations and battles:

  • Defense of the Arctic [2] - from February 27, 1943 to August 24, 1943.
  • Svir-Petrozavodsk operation [2] - from June 21, 1944 to August 9, 1944.
  • Petsamo-Kirkenes operation [2] - from October 7, 1944 to October 29, 1944.

By June 20, 1944, the regiment was relocated to the area of ​​the Svir River , where it took part in the Svir-Petrozavodsk operation, storming the columns and fortifying the enemy. In October 1944, participating in the Petsamo-Kirkenes operation, the regiment supported the troops of the 131st Rifle Corps , destroyed several mortar batteries, struck the SalmijΓ€rvi airfield, supported the advancing troops on the outskirts of Kirkenes .

On November 11, 1944, the regiment was transferred to the 261st Assault Aviation Division . Based in the Arctic, did not participate in battles.
