Biography
Stefan Dor studied at the Essen Conservatoires with Wolfgang Wilhelmy and Cologne with Erich Penzel . Already at the age of 19 he became a soloist in the Frankfurt Opera House Orchestra. After that, Dor took the lead position in the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra, the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra and the Berlin Symphony Orchestra . Since 1993, Stefan Dor is the soloist of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra .
In addition to working in the orchestra, Stefan Dor conducts active concert activities as a soloist and chamber musician, and is involved in many recordings. Along with the traditional classical repertoire, he pays great attention to modern music - the compositions of such composers as Ligeti , Knussen and Kirchner . In 2007, Stefan Dor and french hornists from the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra recorded the Opera CD with transposed fragments from operas by German and Italian composers.
