Jerzy Hoppen ( Polish Jerzy Hoppen ; March 23, 1891 , Kovno - November 4, 1969 , Torun ) - Polish painter, graphic artist, art historian, teacher, restorer.

Biography
Born in Kovno. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow ( 1913 ), then in Petrograd ( 1914 - 1917 ), then at the Department of Fine Arts of the University of Stefan Batory in Vilna (since 1921 ). In the years 1924-1925 he continued his studies in Paris. In 1934 he received a diploma of the artist of plastic CSS .
Since 1925 he taught at the courses of the Vilnius Society of Artists ( „Wileńskie Towarzystwo Artystów Plastyków“ ). Since 1931 he taught as an associate in the CSS, led the department of graphics; since 1939, associate professor of the Department of Fine Arts of the CSS. In 1940 - 1942 he taught at the Vilnius Academy of Art, for some time he worked at the Art Museum ( 1944 - 1946 ).
After World War II, from 1946 he was a professor in the department of fine arts at the University of Nicolaus Copernicus in Torun, until 1961, he was head of the department of graphics.
Creativity
Author of landscapes (including a series of landscapes of Vilnius ) and portraits . He was engaged in etching ( etching cycles on historical, everyday, urban themes), theatrical scenery, illustrations and book design, bookplate . He was also involved in photography and left a series of documentary photographs of historical places of Lithuania.
In 1929 - 1932 he restored the decor of the halls of Smuglevich and Lelevel of Vilnius University. In 1933 he made copies of the frescoes of the Trakai Castle. In 1938-1939, in the technique of sgraffito, he decorated the Episcopal chapel of the Cathedral of St. Stanislav in Vilnius, in 1942 - 1943 he took part in the decoration of churches in Lentvaris and Pärloy , in 1944 - in the interior of the church of St. James and Philip in Vilnius.
