Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9, CD289) is a membrane protein that is part of the group of toll-like receptors that ensure the functioning of innate immunity . The gene product of TLR9 [1] . TLR9 is expressed on cells of the immune system, including dendritic cells , macrophages , natural killers and other antigen-presenting cells [1] . Recognizes CpG sites on a DNA molecule that are relatively rare (~ 1%) in vertebrate DNA compared to bacterial or viral DNA. It is an intracellular protein localized in endosomes .
