UN Passport ( eng. UNLP or eng. United Nations Laissez-Passer ) - an official travel document issued by the UN in accordance with Article VII of the UN Convention on Privileges and Immunities of February 13, 1946, in its missions in New York and Geneva [1 ] and the International Labor Organization . UNLP is issued to UN and ILO staff, as well as employees of other organizations: WHO , IAEA , World Bank , International Monetary Fund , Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons , World Trade Organization , World Tourism Organization . The passport is written in English and French.

UNLP can be used as an identity card (like a national passport), but only on official United Nations missions. As well as for an individual state’s passport, in some countries you can not get a visa if you have a UN passport (such as Kenya , the UK , Ireland , Germany , Luxembourg , Lebanon , and others), or it can be obtained by immediate request .
Most employees of international organizations have a blue UNLP (up to level D-1), which is legally equivalent to a service passport . Particularly high officials have a red UNLP (level D-2 and above), and depending on their status, they may have certain privileges, and therefore the red UNLP is similar (in legal status) to a diplomatic passport

e-UNLP
Since 2012, electronic UNLPs have been issued that fully comply with international standards established by ICAO . They contain biometric information about the owner. All e-UNLPs are issued for a fixed five-year period and regardless of the expiration of the contract with the employee. The validity period of e-UNLP cannot contain additional visa information and can be extended.
