Kozalma ( fin. Kossalmi ) is a village in the Prionezhsky region of the Republic of Karelia , administratively part of the Shuisky rural settlement .

General Information
The village is located on the road Petrozavodsk - Marcial Waters on the narrow isthmus between the lakes Konchozero and Ukshozero . Within the village there is an artificial duct (salma) between these lakes.
There were chapels in the name of the holy first apostles Peter and Paul and the great martyr Paraskeva, Friday, a flour-grinding mill of the peasant Bashev [2] .

Interesting Facts
An outstanding Russian linguist , professor , member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Philip Fedorovich Fortunatov first visited the village of Kosalma in 1883. Regularly spent the summer months here since 1895. He died in Kosalm on September 20 (October 3), 1914, and was buried here.
