History
Sergio Zapepella (Sergio Zappella) and Arthur Smed (Arthur Schmed) founded the company in 1981 in Gaggio Montano ( Bologna , Italy ) [1] . In 1984 , Spidem SpA , a member of the Saeco International Group, was founded. Spidem - low cost automatic coffee machines for home or small office. [3] In October 1999, the company acquired another coffee machine manufacturer, Gaggia SpA [1] . Gaggia specializes in the production of hand (horn) espresso coffee machines, working on ground coffee. [four]
In 2009 , Saeco was bought out by Philips , with all its obligations and debts. [5] From May 2010 , the sale of products under the Philips Saeco brand began. In 2012 , it was decided to discontinue use of the Philips Saeco trademark, the models again began to be produced under the Saeco trademark.
Market
Saeco International Group is engaged in the design, production and sales of coffee machines for home and professional use, the company also produces vending machines for hot, cold drinks and snacks. The international company Saeko is present in the main markets of the world with 16 branches in Europe, the United States, Latin America, Australia, Asia and a commercial network in more than 60 countries.
