The river basin is located in the temperate and humid climate of the Atlantic type. The average annual temperature is 12.3 ° C. Precipitation is most frequent from November to January, in the summer - a dry period. [one]
History
The island of Pheasants (or Conference) is known for the fact that in 1659 the Pyrenees peace was concluded on it. Negotiations were also held on the island between the French king Louis XI and the king of Castile Enrique IV on the case of the marriage of the Duke of Guyenne in 1463, and in 1525 the prisoner Francis I was exchanged for his two sons, who became prisoners of Charles V as hostages. Currently, the island is a condominium and every 6 months passes from France to Spain and vice versa.
On October 7, 1813, a battle took place on the Spanish bank of the Bidasoa River between the French army of Soult and the combined Anglo-Spanish-Portuguese forces led by Arthur Wellington [2] .
