Political views
Atkinson has consistently advocated government intervention in order to reduce inequality, while putting forward quite radical ideas. Thus, in his latest book, Inequality, he spoke in favor of the payment of universal income ( engagement participation ) - payments to all those who are engaged in socially useful work and the introduction of a wealth tax intended to finance "hereditary payments" to all citizens upon reaching 18 years of age. . He consistently opposed tax cuts and believed that lowering inflation was more important than reducing unemployment [3] .
