The following is a list of the rulers of Castile in chronological order, from the formation of the county of Castile to the fall of the Spanish Habsburg dynasty .

Castile was originally the eastern brand of Asturias and therefore, the numbering of the Castilian monarchs continues the numbering of the Asturian . In the XIII century , the final unification of Castile and Leon took place , as a result of which the kingdom of Castile and Leon was formed . The marriage of Queen Isabella I and Fernando II of Aragon in 1469 marked the beginning of the unification of Spain .

The Castilian crown is the union of the kingdoms of Castile and Leon, which occurred after their last and final union in 1230 , when Fernando III the Holy was crowned the crown of the Leon kingdom.
